About Me
Graeme is a London-based illustrator from Ireland, with a background in animation. His illustrations are focused on publishing, editorial, travel, and lifestyle. He predominantly works with Photoshop, but occasionally he will use traditional mediums such as acrylic, ink, and watercolour for mark making.
Graeme is heavily influenced by UPA animation, with its blocky and vivid colour, the fluidity and stylised nature of Cartoon Network, and the gorgeous backgrounds of old Disney films.
While studying animation at UCA (University for the Creative Arts) he experimented in photography, collage, and storytelling. Studying animation means his illustrations are detail oriented and tell stories, using lots and lots of punchy colour. Graeme is part of Red’s Kingdom, a blog where every two weeks he creates something from a prompt submitted by artists from around the world. He finds it challenging but rewarding as it stretches his knowledge of many different media.
Growing up in rural Ireland has a huge influence on his illustrations which revolve around nature and the folklore abundant within the Emerald Isle. When he’s not illustrating he can be found editing photos of landscapes, painting canvases, and if the weather allows, tending to his garden with his roommates.
